Will the power of the Veyron Super Sport (pictured) grow to 1500bhp? The rumours that the Bugatti Veyron would, at some point, get more than its original 100bhp or so have been around seen the Veyron first launched. Eventually, Bugatti delivered and we got the Veyron Super Sport – with 1200bhp – back in 2010 which was, inevitably, followed by the convertible version in the guise of the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse sporting 1200bhp and a hole to let the sky in.
A proposed tax break for new-vehicle buyers is dramatically scaled back in the final version of the economic stimulus bill. Every car maker wants a lap record at the Nurburgring, and Toyota is no different. What is different this time is that Toyota has taken a non-production car with an electric motor – the Toyota TMG EV P001 – to crack the record for an EV. Nurburgring regular Jochen Krumbach took the Toyota Motorsport EV P001 round the 20.8km Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit in a blistering 7m 47.794s, annihilating the previous record of 9m 1.388s.
